The Kids' Nature Festival has been discontinued.
In its place, we are holding a different kind of fundraising event known as
Urban Nature Week and we have added other activities throughout the year such as the
Nursery Nature Workshops.

See what the LA Times had to say about the Kids' Nature Festival!
Bring your little ones for a day of family fun at The Children's Nature Institute's 16th annual Kids' Nature Festival, the only environmental education festival for young children -- an amazing and unique event for toddlers through 8-year-olds and their families (older siblings have fun too, we promise!).
Among the activities at the dozens of activity booths (free with admission), children will pretend they are walking along the bottom of the ocean at the Undersea Adventure booth, search for dinosaur bones like real archeologists at the Dino Dig, and guess the natural contents of the mystery bags at Sensation Station. Kids will learn about the Chumash, the busy lives of bees, what it's like to be a bat, and how to distinguish trash from recyclables.
This year's festival features two costume parades and three live concerts. Parents can get great deals on hundreds of kid and adult items at the two silent auctions and shop for gifts and treats at the Nature Store. Children will marvel at live turtles and tortoises, lizards and snakes, beetles and bees, and more! They can dress up in butterfly, ladybug, and bat costumes and “fly” to the face painting booth to get a matching face just in time for the costume parades. The Children's Nature Institute's traveling classroom, the CNI Wonder Mobile, will show off its amazing collection of reclaimed animal skins and pelts, skulls, and friendly live critters who visit thousands of inner-city children every year!
Parents can purchase snacks, drinks, and lunch and sit under the oaks and sycamores for a festive picnic. At the CNI booth, parents will find out how to deepen their young children's connection to nature through CNI's Family Nature Walks and Volunteer Training.
Every year, 300 volunteers make this event possible for the 3,500 young children and family members who attend. The festival was created in 1990 by early childhood educators and the docents of The Children's Nature Institute to promote hands-on learning with nature and to raise funds for The Children's Nature Institute's (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity) year-round programs. The event benefits the Outreach Discovery Program where every year 8,000 children from the inner city who have never seen the ocean or visited the mountains, experience nature for the first time during guided field trips and in-class workshops.
Don't miss this spectacular day of fun!
