BECOMING A NATURE WALK LEADER IS AS EASY AS  A-B-C

The next training session is May 22nd and May 28th

If you love kids & love nature -- then this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Connect with children by leading nature walks for the children's nature institute. CNI will train you to lead nature walks at trails near your home.

Follow these simple steps:

A blockGet out on the trails! Sign up to assist on walks and see what CNI's programs are like first hand.  (This can be done anytime - before, or after session B and C)

B blockAttend CNI's Introductory Class to find out all about CNI, and learn the preliminary tools you'll need for the trails. (May 22nd)   

C blockAttend CNI's Secondary Class to gain valuable information about plants, animals and other topics needed for leading nature walks. (May 28th)

Kids are welcome to take the training with their parents! Please inquire about childcare for children 5 and under. Kids remain within sight and within earshot of training parents. Older children are encouraged to remain with parents.

    Underprivileged children, parents and teachers from urban neighborhoods and families with young children in your community.

    No experience necessary, just a passion for sharing nature with children.

    Volunteer Commitment
    We ask that you volunteer for a minimum of one walk per month.

    Family Nature Walks - You choose the date, time, and trail. Lead nature walks at your favorite trails near your home! CNI helps you advertise the walk and takes reservations for you.

    Outreach Nature Walks - You sign up to lead or assist with walks on a pre-determined schedule. Usually these walks are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am-12noon. Occassional Saturday walks from 10am-12noon.


    Suggested donation for first-time trainees:
    $60 to cover some of our costs -- No one turned away for lack of funds.
    Can't take the training now?
    You can still volunteer on the trail as a CNI Docent Assistant. No training necessary. CNI usually offers the training course two to three times a year.
